“The universe makes us wait because within our waiting lies the alchemy of transformation. It is within the cocoon of patience and resilience that our true selves are refined, and our aspirations take flight."

What is Positive Psychology?

Is it learning how to be just positive? How is it different from traditional psychology?

While yes, it does include strategies and practices on how to live a more positive life, it also encompasses so much more. Let me explain.

Traditional Psychology has a deficit-based approach. The focus is more on what needs to be "fixed" and working through what is going "wrong" in an individual's life.

Positive Psychology is strength-based. This field targets prioritizing flourishing for the individual, working on what their strengths are, and learning how to build competency and resilience.

Key Components of Resilience

We all have heard the sayings "suck it up" and "toughen up". We have been told resilience is just the act of bouncing back to normal.

Resilience is about recovery and recharging, not just enduring. There are four components that affect us every day. If we neglect these essential parts for our well-being, our health, productivity, and our ability to regulate and bounce forward are affected.

Learning how to master these four areas is like a muscle that requires training, consistency, and dedication. Like training, the longer you maintain the practice, the easier you can implement it into your daily life and reap the benefits of a gratifying life.

01

Physical

Physical health is not just about having healthy habits such as rest, exercise, and a nutritious diet. It also allows us to have the skills to maintain healthy coping mechanisms. Research shows that if we take care of our physical health, we are better equipped to recover and recharge, along with all the cognitive benefits it has to offer.

02

Mental

Our brains are naturally biased towards negativity. We tend to remember negative situations more often than positive ones. Fortunately, neuroplasticity allows us to learn and create new habits and mindsets. Learning how to reframe perspectives that are more positive and being more intentional in the activities we do helps build resilience.

03

Emotional

Fostering mental resilience is not about acting tough and not acknowledging stressors and emotions. Self-awareness is involved and learning how to self-regulate and react to circumstances productively is important. Things such as gratitude, savoring, and self-compassion allow us to be more present.

04

Social

We are social creatures. Just as those around us can fuel and inspire us to be the best versions of ourselves, they can also drain and derail us from our purpose and goals. Having mindful connections, not just with others but also with ourselves, and healthy boundaries can prevent us from overwhelm and unhealthy relationships.

What is Resilience Coaching?

An analogy I heard once that I love to share is this: Your traditional therapist would be similar to a physical therapist. You see these professionals because there is an injury or issue that needs to be resolved. A life coach would be the equivalent of a personal trainer. You are in a position where you are ready to build strength, and skills, and learn how to implement these practices into your daily life.  As a resilience coach, I am here to support you in building a life where you feel empowered, recharged, and fulfilled. My role is to help be like a "facilitator" in your own discovery of growth and resilience while providing resources and guidance.

What We Will Tackle Together

Setting an Intention & Discovering Your "Why"

First, a discovery call (consultation) is scheduled. Here I will have the opportunity to learn more about you and what you are seeking out of coaching. Here we can both discover what your intention is and the goals you have either made already or would like to create.

Creating Your Course of Action

After a discovery call has been made, and we have decided on your course of action into building resilience, we can now dive deep during your coaching sessions. Sessions come in packages to best serve you, as building resilience and fostering change is a practice that takes time. There are a few different package options depending on the level of depth and change you are ready to experience and commit to.

Building Mastery in Your Well-Being and Resilience

While we work with your intentions and goals that you have made, we will also go over resources and skills that will help you live a healthier, less stressed, and happier life. At the end of your sessions, you will learn new perspectives and habits that will allow you to embody resilience through recovery and recharging, not just endurance.
